1. What is BehindBarsMC?

BehindBarsMC is a modern version of the classic minecraft prison server experience,; where you start your journey at the bottom of the ranks and grind your way to freedom. You’ll start by mining, fishing and pvping to earn in-game cash to rank up - eventually unlocking the Free World and tackling new challenges beyond the prison walls. We’ve taken inspiration from classic prison servers such as Killion, Mumau .etc. — complete with over 200+ cells, player shops, custom recipes and pvp zones — while adding fresh, modern features such as custom weapon and tool enchants, custom crafting recipes, vehicles .etc. 

If you're into progression-based gameplay with a heavy focus on pvp, community and completely free to play, BehindBarsMC might just be the perfect fit!

2. How do I play on BehindBarsMC?

On BehindBarsMC, you start your journey at A-Rank. Your first goal is to start making money. You can do this by either mining, fishing or pvp'ing in the hopes that you land some great gear and loot! Once you have enough, type '/rankup' and you will automatically be moved into the next prison tier rank. As you climb through the prison ranks, you’ll unlock new mines, other areas of the prison and eventually the Free World. We’ve built our progression to be rewarding and true to the roots of traditional mc prison servers, but with a modern twist to keep things interesting - including play to win features such as prestige rewards and gang level up rewards (only obtainable through playing the game)!

3. What makes BehindBarsMC one of the best Minecraft prison servers?

We’ve designed BehindBarsMC to bring back the nostalgia of classic prison servers, but with a modern twist through the use of our fully custom coded crafting recipes, enchants, vehicles and play to win gameplay style. Just to name a handful of features, BehindBarsMC has 1.8 combat style enabled, fully custom coded crafting recipes, custom tool, weapon and armour enchants and the nostalgic 'Free World'. Our balance, fair economy, and active staff make us stand out amongst other op minecraft prison servers. 4. Is BehindBarsMC pay-to-win?

Not in the slightest. While we do offer paid ranks and perks on our store, we’ve carefully designed them so that they don’t break progression or give unfair advantages. All rank kits can be obtained free to play simply by voting for the server. Our voting crate includes every crate key available on our server to ensure you have a chance of winning items, kits and more just from your contribution to supporting the server by voting.

Fun Fact: the best gear on the server can only be found in the following crates: Prestige, Gang (I) and Gang (II). All three of these crates can only be accessed through '/prestige' or '/gang levelup' - two commands that can only be used from playing the server - making BehindBarsMC a Play To Win  server. When these commands successfully execute, you will receive 1x crate key for every prestige/level up.

5. Can I rank up on BehindBarsMC without spending IRL money? 

Yes — 100%. You can progress through the entire prison ranking system without spending a single penny. We’ve made sure that grinding, voting, and trading with players gives you all the tools you will ever need to climb the ranks. In fact, our voting system actually help free-to-play players stay competitive - keeping them equipped with gems, in-game cash, cosmetic rewards and donor items. We’ve taken a lot of pride in offering a fair, balanced progression system that holds up to the best minecraft prison servers — without forcing you to spend money just to have a fair chance!

6. How do I join BehindsBarsMC?

To join our server, open Minecraft Java Edition, click on Multiplayer, and add our IP: behindbarsmc.com. Once you're in, you’ll spawn in our courtyard - opposite 'The Cage'. New players should beware of this area as the mine is 100% pvp enabled (excluding ladders). This is a high risk mine and you should take friends with you for backup just in case. For a safer start you should type /warp and head over to 'A-Mine' or 'Fishing' to get started.

BehindBarsMC prison server is also available on Minecraft Bedrock Edition. In order to connect to the server from bedrock, click on servers and add our IP: bedrock.behindbarsmc.com followed by the default bedrock port: 19132. Please note that some elements, such as item frames, may appear strange given the multi plaform support. We recommend using Java for the best experience possible.
